About Us
Radio Studio Services Ltd is a small specialist company which provides consultancy and technical services to the radio industry throughout the UK. The company's Director - and principle Technical Consultant - is Richard Lawley, a graduate Electronic Engineer.
The staff employed by the company are all long-standing professionals with experience
including design and manufacture as well as installation, commissioning, training, troubleshooting and support in radio stations large and small.
Our History
Radio Studio Services was set up by Richard Lawley in 1997. Graduating from Sheffield University in 1977, Richard moved into the radio industry in 1980 when he was hired as a station engineer by Mercia Sound in Coventry. Over the succeeding years he held the position of Chief Engineer, Operations Manager, Technical Director and Managing Director in a number of commercial radio companies.
Since 1997, the company has worked for many major players in the industry, including Guardian Media Group, Immedia Broadcasting, Saga Group, UKRD Group, and CN Radio. We have provided consultancy and system design services for each of these companies as well as installing studios and other technical facilities for all of them.
We have also worked with educational establishments and community groups providing advice and setting up technical facilities, assisted community radio groups in the preparation of licence bids, and set up Restricted Service Licence (RSL) radio stations for trial and training projects.
